Singapore– The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) has launched INVIGORATE for Casual Games – a scheme to provide funding and mentorship for up to 10 PC game development projects in the ‘Casual Games’ genre – quick and simple games that are easy to understand, play and complete. Game studios and independent developer teams can submit concept proposals from June 16 – August 10, 2007, with successful applicants being eligible for up to S$35,000 (US$22,700) in prototype development funding. Each of the funded teams will be expected to produce a playable PC demo by January 25, 2008. This is the second instalment of the INVIGORATE initiative, the first was targeted at mobile game developers and was announced in December 2006. The initiative is designed to fuel the game industry in Singapore with 10 casual game prototypes created under the mentorship of directors and producers from international publishers including Big Fish Games, Encore and PlayFirst. Mentors from foreign firms will work with mentors from local setups Boomzap and Playware Studios in a master class to put teams through product planning, game design and production management training and guidance. Proposals may be submitted by post to MDA and further details are available at www.mda.gov.sg
