Hong Kong – Disney-ABC International Television (Asia Pacific) today announced a multi-year video-on-demand (VOD) movie agreement with BigPond, Telstra’s broadband internet service provider in Australia, starting in July. This is the Disney Company’s first agreement in Australia to offer internet movie VOD downloads and is in line with the company’s focus to use technology to enhance its content and expand distribution to deliver anytime and anywhere. Customers of BigPond’s Movie Downloads service will get a wide selection of current and library features from the various Disney labels on-demand on a download-to-rent basis. Initial offerings will include The Guardian, Chicago, Pearl Harbor, Signs and classics 102 Dalmatians, The Parent Trap and Treasure Island. “Our alliance with BigPond demonstrates our ongoing commitment to working with strategic digital media partners to provide secure ways for consumers to access content,” said Greg Johnson, vice president of sales for Disney-ABC International Television (Asia Pacific).
