Shanghai- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM) has signed a licensing agreement with Hong Kong’s Tengxun Entertainment and Management Ltd. and Shanghai Tianhong Real Estate investment Co. Ltd., to construct MGM Studio World, a lifestyle complex built around the MGM brand and its intellectual properties. With total investments of up to RMB1.2 billion (US$156.8 million), Tianhong will be the developer and builder, with Tengxun managing the project and responsible for business operations after completion. MGM Studio World will be located in the Changfeng Ecological Business District as a 200,000 square feet indoor venue which offers dining, retail and entertainment services. It’s due to open in the summer of 2010 to co-incide with the World’s Fair Expo in Shanghai.
