Cannes- The best works of filmmakers across 70 nations in Asia Pacific will be broadcast to international audiences through a cultural initiative involving CNN international, UNESCO and the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). Films will be showcased in two programmes to air on CNN International tying in with the inaugural Asia Pacific Screen Awards, which will be held on the Gold Coast, Australia, on November 13, 2007. Scene By Scene – Films of Asia Pacific, an hour-long report on the region’s film industry, will screen in October. Scene By Scene – Best Films of Asia Pacific, will be shown after the Awards, featuring highlights of the event including interviews with nominees, winners and the international jury. The shows will be produced by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in association with CNN International. The international film industry, through FIAPF, has been developing the rules and regulations for the Awards including selection and eligibility criteria, nominations process, appointment of the International Jury and the overall process of ensuring integrity and governance.
