Beijing- China’s top authority for radio, film and television has issued an edict banning film and television crews shooting in China’s natural reserves, scenic areas and historic sites. Chinese media reports say this is a response to increasingly disordered film and TV productions that have caused substantial environmental damage. The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) said filming will be totally prohibited in core areas of all natural reserves, scenic spots and historic sites. Crews will only be allowed to shoot in bordering areas, and only on a limited basis. SARFT added that film and television production companies must lodge advance applications to relevant government departments if they need to film scenes in protected areas and they must restore the area they operate in to its original condition after they finish.
