Kuala Lumpur- The ABU’s second international Digital Television Symposium 2007, being held in Kuala Lumpur March 26-29, is designed to help broadcasters implement DTV services and to provide updates on Mobile TV and HDTV.Speakers will include TV executives from Astro, Al Jazeera, DVB, Kordia, MediaCorp, Motion Pictures Association, Newtec, NHK, Nokia, Technomedia, Thomson, Quantel, Tektronix, TVB Hong Kong, Radio Frequency Systems and Rohde & Schwarz.
“DTV will provide opportunities for broadcasters to enhance delivery of services to their audiences, and as DTV take-up increases, it will be inevitable that all broadcasters will move onto new digital platforms,” said David Astley, Secretary-General of the ABU.
One workshop organized by the Media Development Authority of Singapore will feature a case study on the digital television broadcasting platform in Singapore using the world's first and only 103" 1080 P full HD plasma display from Panasonic to showcase HDTV material produced for broadcast in Singapore.
Parallel with the symposium, broadcasters will convene for the 4th ASEAN Digital Broadcasting (ADB) meeting, co-organized by RTB-Brunei and MediaCorp, and hosted by Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission and Radio Television Malaysia, to continue discussions on seeking a common approach to the implementation of digital TV services and digital TV receiver specifications.
