Tokyo – Genichi Hashimoto, President of NHK has left the Japanese pubcaster to take responsibility for alleged insider trading by two journalists and a director of the network. Hashimoto’s resignation comes three days before he was scheduled to step down at the end of his term on Jan 25. Tokyo – The 34th Japan Prize, the international contest for educational TV programs, was presented at an awards ceremony at NHK Broadcasting Centre, Tokyo on Oct. 29. Selected from 187 submissions, the top prize, The Grand Prix Japan Prize, went to A Lesson in Discrimination by CBC Radio-Canada. NHK’s Japan Prize to be awarded on October 29
NHK’s international educational TV program contest, the Japan Prize, will start on October 23 at NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo, with the Awards Ceremony to take place on October 29. Established in 1965, the 2007 edition of the contest received 262 entries from 150 organizations in 56 territories worldwide.
