Gender Matters’ last two steps
Screen Australia has unveiled the final two steps of the agency’s Gender Matters programme, Better Deals and Attachments for Women, at the MIFF 37°South Market in Melbourne. Gender Matters is the $5 million plan to ensure that production funding is targeted to creative teams that are at least 50% female by the end of 2018. The Australian Government has revealed the 58 recipients of Screen Australia’s Gender Matters: Brilliant Stories and Brilliant Careers, marking the largest cohort of projects funded in a single day in the agency’s history. Screen Australia has received a record-breaking 452 applications for Brilliant Stories and Brilliant Careers, the two programmes announced in late 2015 under the Gender Matters initiative.
