Singapore – April proved to be a record month for BBC Knowledge – with viewership increasing by 55% in April over March, giving the channel its best performance to date. “We are extremely pleased with the performance of BBC Knowledge in April. The month was a major milestone for our channels in Asia – it was the first time we delivered live, a global television event. It also marked the launch of the BBC Earth programming block on BBC Knowledge. These two events propelled the channel to achieve stellar results,” said Mark Whitehead, senior vice president and General Manager, BBC Worldwide Channels Asia. The BBC Earth programming block on BBC Knowledge launched on March 31 with two epic series – ‘Wild China’ and ‘Planet Earth’ both of which ranked among the top programs for the channel in April. The month also marked the British Royal Wedding – The live feed was broadcast simultaneously on BBC Knowledge and BBC Entertainment in Singapore, resulting in the channel climbing to the number one English language pay TV channel for BBC Knowledge in Singapore during the live Royal wedding coverage (1500 hrs to 2039 hrs HK/SIN) among cable adults 25+.
