No Brainer, an innovative quiz show co-developed by TV Asahi in Japan and Warner Bros. International Television Production, will make its debut at MIPTV in April with its pilot filmed in London, UK. The rules and game play in the quiz format, No Brainer, have been re-developed for audiences in Europe and the U.S. The pilot was produced by U.K. production company Wall to Wall using British contestants and staff at the London Studios to give the format an international flavour.
Last year, TV Asahi and Warner Bros. International Television Production signed a partnership deal to co-develop TV formats which have been produced and aired on TV Asahi. The co-production team has now co-developed the quiz format based on TV Asahi’s hit show Speed King. A pilot for international sales promotion was filmed at the London Studios on February 22. This is the first time TV Asahi has recorded a pilot at a studio abroad.
The producer of TV Asahi’s original format Speed King, Masahiro Katano, who consulted on the UK pilot said: “The underdog of the team who becomes the heroic saviour of the team is the key concept of the original show and No Brainer gives a clearer output of the concept boosting the show up into the top gear. It also has additional sequences and I can feel its excitement and fun surpassing the original Japanese version. The quiz show is very simple to follow and yet the players cannot help expressing roller-coasting emotional changes, which make the show so exciting and keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.”
