OUTtv, the leading LGBTQ+ television and streaming service, has commissioned three brand-new documentaries. These are: Our Gay Family (1 x 90’) as part of the service’s popular OUTspoken documentary strand, three-part series The Last American Gay Bar (3 x 40’) and 45-minute one-off programme Escape to Paradise.
Produced by Firestarter Productions, Our Gay Family explores a family with three generations of women living a gay life from their early twenties to mid-fifties.
The Last American Gay Bar, produced by Kristian Day Media and Daylite Pictures, is a three-part series telling the story of the rise and fall of gay bars in America through the eyes of three red state institutions.
Escape to Paradise is a one-off documentary, looking into the life of Filipino-American drag queen and reality television personality Manila Luzon on a summer day in Fire Island produced by Producer Entertainment Group.
Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, said: “Documentaries are a hugely important part of our programming slate as they support our core values of telling the true stories of the LGBTQ+ community, and continue to be popular with our audiences all over the world. These projects spotlight a multiplicity of queer experiences – from the importance of vibrant night life and spaces to host it, to an intimate portrait of a family across generations.”
