BBC Studios has announced pre-sales of its Natural History Unit’s stunning new landmark series, The Green Planet, presented by Sir David Attenborough.
The five-part series produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit for BBC and PBS, and co-produced by the Open University, bilibili, ZDF German Television, France Télévisions and NHK has pre-sold to Australia (Nine), New Zealand (TVNZ), Canada (Radio-Canada), Denmark (DR), Norway (NRK), Spain (Movistar+), Estonia (ERR), Lithuania (LRT), Latvia (LTV), Slovenia (RTVS) and Russia (Friday). BBC Earth channels across Africa, Asia, MENA, Turkey, Canada, Nordics and Poland will also be premiering the series.
The Green Planet will be the first immersive portrayal of an unseen, inter-connected world, full of remarkable new behaviour, emotional stories and surprising heroes in the plant world. Using brand new technological advances and over two decades of new discoveries, The Green Planet utilises new developments in robotics, moving time-lapse, super-detail thermal cameras, deep focus ‘frame-stacking’ and ultra-high-speed to travel beyond the power of the human eye and make visible the amazing, hidden life of the green planet.

Pre-sales for the series have been announced as BBC Studios opens BBC Studios Connect, a virtual destination for the business to highlight premium content on offer to international buyers during the MIPCOM period.
Another premium natural history series on the BBC Studios slate is Eden: Untamed Planet, a BBC Natural History Unit production for BBC America. This six-part series, presented by Helena Bonham Carter, embarks on a breath-taking journey to Earth’s last Edens. Isolated from the rest of the world, these places have been protected from the most damaging effects of human interference. In these lands, life exists as nature intended. Delicately balanced, species-rich, unique ecosystems.
Alongside Eden: Untamed Planet are natural history series The Mating Game, Serengeti II, and Animals with Cameras Series 2. Other premium factual titles include the science series Universe and insightful documentary Scandalous: The Maxwell Saga (w/t).
