London – Kudos, a Shine Group company, announced an exclusive first-look co-production deal with Parti Productions, effective immediately.
The partnership, brokered by Nisha Parti, Founder of Parti Productions and Jane Featherstone, Chief Executive of Kudos, sees the two production companies working together to discover new talent and develop and produce television drama for the UK and international market.
The deal aims to nurture Asian talent both on and off screen, pursuing a diverse range of stories told from an Asian perspective and builds on an existing relationship which saw Parti Productions and Kudos co-option the rights to adapt two novels by award winning journalist and author Sathnam Sanghera: The Boy with the Topknot and his second novel Marriage Material which is in development with the BBC as announced last year.
Nisha Parti, Founder of Parti Productions said, “I am excited about cementing what has been a really inspiring and productive relationship with Jane and Kudos over the past couple of years into something official. I hope to bring both my experience and established relationships with Asian talent to Kudos to help produce some really groundbreaking, original and commercial drama that has yet to be explored on British TV.”
Jane Featherstone, Chief Executive of Kudos said, “Along with Nisha’s wealth of knowledge of film trends and her keen eye for fresh talent, she has the ability to identify and conceptualise content that speaks to a diverse audience. We are thrilled that we will be able to collaborate with her on further interesting projects, expanding our offering.”
Nisha Parti’s credits include her first feature film Honour released theatrically in the UK and US this year. She is in development on several other feature films; Stray starring Dev Patel, Darkness Visible to be directed by Neil Biswas and Maybe written by Morwenna Banks. She was Indian Creative Consultant on John Madden’s The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for Fox Searchlight and was the first to discover the unpublished manuscript of Harry Potter, and helped secure film rights for a joint venture between Heyday Films and Warner Bros.
