Singapore – The Asian Television Awards has won for the first time at the Shorty Awards. The team bagged a total of 7 awards. It emerged victorious in the Asia and Weibo categories and walked away with the Audience Honour awards in the Asia, Emerging Platform, Weibo, Twitter Partnership and Live Event Coverage categories.
The Shorty Awards, now in its ninth year, continues to recognise the most innovative, creative, and culturally relevant brands, organisations, agencies and influencers on social media. Finalists were selected by the Real Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences, whose members include CMO of GE, Linda Boff, Apple Co-founder Steve “Woz” Wozniak and Instagram Co-Founder Mike Krieger.
The team at the Asian Television Awards is particularly delighted with the achievement, especially since the 2016 event, the team’s submission to the Shorty Awards, was only the second year in which the awards has actively used social media to engage with the public. The “live” event of this year’s Asian Television Awards takes place on Friday, 1 December 2017 at Suntec Singapore. Asian Television Awards is a part of the Singapore Media Festival (SMF), which is hosted by the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA).
Said Cindy Ng, Managing Director of the Asian Television Awards, “This result is good vindication of the work that we have done on social media thus far. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our broadcasters, partners, sponsors, fans and IMDA who have been with us on this journey.”
Angeline Poh, Assistant Chief Executive (Content & Innovation), IMDA, said “Congratulations to the Asian Television Awards team on their wins at the Shorty Awards.
