Cologne– ohm:tv has announced that it has secured worldwide distribution rights to the feature length documentary 35 Cows And A Kalashnikov (1 x 83 mins). Directed by the late Oswald von Richthofen, 35 Cows And A Kalashnikov is produced by award winning director and producer Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, Stonewall).
The film pays an exemplary tribute to the Surma tribe of Southern Ethiopia, the dandy movement of Brazzaville and the voodoo wrestlers in Kinshasa. Archaic roots, colonial past and western influences, all co-exist and mingle in today’s Africa. Showing three unusual facets of the continent the filmmakers have pushed the boundaries of cinematic aesthetics with bold images and daring editing to create a captivating way of storytelling, of poetry.
