Sydney- Dominant telco Telstra has launched BigPondTV, offering an array of TV series, made-for-mobile programs, sports and music videos, on its Next G™ mobile network. The initial line-up includes South Park, local satire The Chaser’s War on Everything, The Shield, Beavis & Butt-Head, Jackass, Pimp My Ride, SpongeBob Squarepants and Family Guy, plus an exclusive ‘behind-the-scenes’ series from pop group Silverchair. Among the major sporting events on offer are AFL and NRL matches and V8 Supercars. BigPond TV also launched with two specially-commissioned made-for-mobile programs: Big 5, featuring local personalities Hamish and Andy, and Girl Friday, a sitcom based on the life of a single, female office worker. BigPond’s partnership with Sony Pictures Television International means the new TV series Damages, starring Glenn Close and Australian Rose Byrne, and Kidnapped, will be coming soon as ‘catch up’ TV. Episodes of these shows will be available the day after they first screen on the free-to-air Nine Network.
