Sydney- BBC Worldwide Australasia has appointed Global Licensing NZ as its Kiwi merchandise representative for hit properties Doctor Who, Top Gear and In the Night Garden. Doctor Who toys will launch this month at The Warehouse, Kmart, Farmers and Toy World. Global Licensing will appoint local partners for all properties across a broad range of categories including apparel, accessories and games ranges. In the Night Garden, produced by Ragdoll Productions, makers of the iconic Teletubbies, is airing on TV2 in New Zealand. Hasbro, the master toy licensee, has announced an October toy launch, alongside books from Penguin and DVDs from Roadshow. Global Licensing NZ plans an early 2008 launch for an extensive apparel range and will look to roll out home wares, apparel accessories, stationery, footwear, bags, games and puzzles. In Australia, L&M for Doctor Who and adult brands such as Top Gear, Dancing with the Stars and Planet Earth is handled in-house. Following the end of its contract with Gaffney International, BBC Worldwide Australia decided to take over children’s licensing as well, primarily Charlie & Lola and new property Animalia.
