Sydney- The X|Media|Lab Melbourne creative workshop to be held August 10-12 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, themed “Digital Worlds: Social, Virtual, Mobile,” is attracting an illustrious list of practitioners including film director Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth), Dr David Liu, founder/ CEO of Beijing’s Cyber Recreation Development Corporation, Kamar Shah, Worldwide Head of Industry Marketing at Nokia, and Marcelino Ford-Livene, Head of Interactive Advertising for Intel’s Digital Home Group. The delegation from Cyber Recreation District, the largest digital media industry development initiative in China, will be keynoting and mentoring at the Lab, as well as exploring potential commercial relationships and joint ventures with digital media companies. A reciprocal delegation is being planned to participate at the X|Media|Lab Beijing in December 2007 on “Games and Animation”. The Melbourne gathering will focus on the shift from the primacy of “content providers” to the primacy of “community creators,” in which audiences interact via such forms as social networking, game play in virtual worlds, web video sharing, mobile and instant messaging.
