Sydney- Nine Network Australia is producing a Down Under version of The Singing Bee, NBC’s new hit variety show, where it’s not how well contestants sing but how well they know the words that counts. The Singing Bee premiered in the US on July 10 at 9.30pm and drew an average of 13.1 million viewers, making it the network’s highest-rating new show since 2003. The show challenges contestants to accurately sing the lyrics to popular songs – even when the band stops playing. If they make a mistake, they’re eliminated. Nine’s production, which will feature international and Australian songs, will premiere in September.
