Amsterdam- Format rights to 50-50, the first spin-off from Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, have been acquired by broadcasters in Japan, Australia, Italy and Greece. The new quiz, which can run weekly or daily, features contestants playing in pairs. Each must select an answer from two possible options before the question is passed over to their partner who must decide whether they agree or disagree. If they agree, the original answer is locked in, but if they disagree, they overrule their partner’s answer and the other option is locked in instead. At the climax, the couple must decide the amount of money they think they deserve to win. If they guess wrongly, they can lose everything. Japan’s Fuji channel is scheduled to broadcast a pilot in November 2007. Mega Channel in Greece has signed up for a daily version of the show to launch in autumn 2008. In Australia, Nine Network will produce a pilot, while Endemol Italy will produce the format for the Italian market. Distributor 2waytraffic International will introduce the format to other foreign buyers at MIPCOM 2007.
