Nelvana Enterprises has offered worldwide home entertainment rights for The Backyardigans to FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), excluding Canada and the US. The deal includes up to 60 episodes of the CGI series available internationally on DVD for the first time. Season 1 will be available in Japan, with Seasons 2 and 3 to be offered in territories except Canada and the US where those are already available. Produced by Nick Jr. and Nelvana Studios, The Backyardigans is a musical-adventure series for children aged 2-5, where five friends go on epic journeys in their imagination without leaving their backyard. Each episode includes children’s songs and dances. 2007 saw The Backyardigans win Canada’s Gemini Award for Best Preschool Series and Nelvana animator Jeff Astolfo win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.
