Cannes – Orange, France Telecom’s TV and VOD business is launching the Orange cinéma séries, a service to offer premium content over TV, PC and mobile platforms. Set to debut in France in Q4, 2008, the service will offer exclusive films and new TV series, as well as catalogue titles from multi-year deals with Warner Bros. International Television, HBO, Gaumont and Fidélité Films. Orange cinéma séries will offer exclusive releases of Warner Bros. films including Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Ocean’s 13, I am Legend, and Dark Knight, as well as new series from HBO such as True Blood, Generation Kill, John Adams, and In Treatment. Catalogue titles available from Gaumont, Warner Bros. and HBO include Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. Orange and Fidélité Films also inked an exclusive multi-year agreement to release all of the latter’s new films. Through the Orange cinéma séries service, Orange aims to showcase French productions and contribute to funding French cinema. Orange cinéma séries will be offered as an option on Orange TV via broadband Internet or satellite. Orange broadband TV coverage will be supplemented by satellite following deals with Orange subsidiary GlobeCast and Eutelsat. The service will also be available on PC and mobile. Orange launched TV and VOD via broadband in France in 2003, and mobile TV in 2004. In 2007, Orange added multi-platform services including Orange Sports TV, the first interactive sports news channel, and TV on-demand service Rewind TV.
