London – KidsCo, the JV channel owned by NBC Universal (NBCU), DIC Entertainment and Corus Entertainment, has launched in Hong Kong on PCCW’s now TV IPTV service. The Hong Kong launch adds to carriage deals with regional operators including Singapore’s SingTel mio TV, the Philippines’ SkyCable and Korea’s HanaTV. KidsCo also signed on Philippines-based Cable Boss as distributor in that market. Outside of Asia, KidsCo currently airs in Spain, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa, and is expected to be available across 40 territories in Europe and Latin America within the next 18 months. KidsCo is a 24-hour multiplatform channel providing entertainment for children and families. It utilizes NBCU’s broadcast distribution facility in the US and the company’s international network of affiliates. KidsCo’s programmes include animated and live-action TV series and features from DIC and Corus’ Nelvana. DIC’s programming library features 3,000 half-hours of animseries including Inspector Gadget, Strawberry Shortcake, Madeline, Dennis the Menace, and Care Bears. Nelvana Enterprises’ catalogue includes 3,200 half-hours of kids’ programming such as Babar, Franklin, The Adventures of Tintin and Rolie Polie Olie.
