Hong Kong – High School Musical 3: Senior Year has gone global with the Original Motion picture soundtrack attaining gold status in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia. Walt Disney Records celebrated this unprecedented response to the hit movie soundtrack with more countries in the region predicted to follow suit. The number 1 movie franchise in cable TV history sees the return of the entire cast debut on the silver screen to complete their senior year. With over 15 million albums already sold from the first two soundtracks, High School Musical 3: Senior Year is on the way to breaking all soundtrack records as hit songs Now or Never and Right Here, Right Now continue to gain high rotation air-play on radio stations across Asia. Besides attaining gold record status in the five countries, High School Musical 3’s soundtrack peaked at #1 on the Hong Kong HMV international chart, #1 on Singapore’s CD- Rama chart and #1 in the Philippines album charts. The Walt Disney Pictures title also opened in five Asian markets the same weekend as its US launch and followed with one more the week after. Young fans in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia caught Wildcats fever as the global box office totaled over a $146 million through the first ten days of release.
