Singapore – GS Production, an MSC Malaysia status company is pleased to announce they have finalized three co-production agreements with Sydney based, Fork Films. GS and Fork Films will jointly produce three major documentary projects; Decadence, Islamic Economics and Pink Dollar. Decadence – the fall of the western world? is a landmark 90 min theatrical documentary. Islamic Economics is a 4 part documentary series. This is a timely look at Muslim money & influence. Cutting through the stereotypes, Islamic Economics takes a layman’s look at the emerging business and economic power of the Islamic nations of the Gulf and Asia. Pink Dollar – a new catchphrase in South East Asia is a term coined to refer to the ever-growing spending power of an emerging demographic – the gay community. The market value of these titles is approximately RM 6 million. (US$1.68 million) Eden Animation of Malaysia and Korea’s Sieundesign announced a co-production partnership to a 2D animated TV series titled, Banana Shakes – an English language comedy / adventure TV series with 52 episodes running at 11 minutes, targeting audience 6-12 years old. Eden is currently producing the pilot episode which will be estimated to complete in April 2009. The whole project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2011. The pre-production and main-production of Banana Shakes pilot episode is in progress in Malaysia and Korea. Sieum Lim, CEO of SIEUNDESIGN Co. Ltd adds, “With the support of MSC Malaysia and the government, I have confidence of the success of the co-production. The project estimated value is worth US$3 million and are expected to be marketed in Korean, Japan, US and the ASIAN region.” In addition, the partnership will also see SIEUNDESIGN and Eden developing production of a next-gen game title of Banana Shakes for Nintendo Wii, NDS and X-box 360. The full production will be done by Eden Animation in Malaysia with 100 percent local talent after joint pre-production. “A theme park based on the TV series is also in the pipeline to be built in Korea and in Malaysia,” added Lim. “We are indeed proud with the co-production deal between an MSC Malaysia status company and a Korean company, which bodes well for the local creative & animation industry and talents to grow further. It further reiterates MSC Malaysia position for regional and global creative content companies to develop their content and to serve the Asian and global market,” said Dato’ Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of Multimedia Development Corporation, the custodian of MSC Malaysia.
