Beijing/Shanghai/Singapore – MTV Networks China announced the appointment of Huang Ping to the newly created position of senior vice president and general manager, MTV China. Based in Shanghai, he will be responsible for the overall leadership of MTV China. Huang Ping will work closely with MTV Networks’ Southeast Asia and Greater China managing director Indra Suharjono and China managing director Mei Yan to further develop MTV’s position in the Chinese market. Reporting directly to Mei Yan, Huang Ping will manage the programming, production, creative, digital media and marketing departments as well as identify new business opportunities to further enhance MTV China’s multiplatform distribution and strategic partnerships. Huang Ping was most recently the vice president, China content for STAR China, where he was responsible for content and sales integration, overseeing local programming and production, and representing STAR China’s programming interests with regulators and terrestrial broadcasters. He was promoted into the wider role after successfully leading the daily operations of STAR’s Xing Kong Wei Shi and Channel [V] in China, overseeing programming, production, marketing, talent management and program syndication. He joined STAR in 2003 as the director of government affairs, a role he assumed after serving as deputy channel director for Shanghai Broadcast Network (SBN) and several years as a journalist at OTV and Xinhua News Agency.
