The Australian Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy announced the appointment of Joseph Skrzynski as the new chair of SBS, Australia. Skrzynski has held several positions relevant to the broadcasting industry, including chairman of the Broadcasting Council, chairman of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School and chief executive and commissioner of the Australian Film Commission. He is currently director of the Sydney Film School. Skrzynski was appointed to the SBS Board for five years as a non-executive director on 27 March 2009. He will take up his new position on 17 December 2009. Skrzynski will replace Carla Zampatti, who retires from the position she has held since 17 December 1999.
