Go Button Media uncovers Secrets of Cold War Ruins for Autentic & Super Channel

June 22, 2026 by TVA Editor

Leading Canadian independent producer Go Button Media has announced that it has gone into production on Secrets of Cold War Ruins, a new six-hour history series.

Greenlit by established partners Autentic, a leading factual content company, and Canadian broadcaster Super Channel, Secrets of Cold War Ruins will be the fourth series from the previously announced 36-hour slate deal between the three collaborators, following Secrets of Ancient Structures, The Animal Within S2 and Milestones of the Solar System.

The Cold War was an entirely unmatched and unique conflict, and, to a degree, never ended. For more than four decades, East and West stood locked in a silent struggle for global supremacy, while the threat of nuclear annihilation fuelled fear, secrecy and suspicion around the world. Yet much of this history unfolded beyond public view. Now, Secrets of Cold War Ruins examines the dark mysteries of this period through visiting peerless and long abandoned sites. From underground bunkers and remote military installations to decaying relics of espionage and nuclear defence, these forgotten places reveal the untold stories from an era defined by a precarious balance of terror.

Cross-cutting history with present-day investigation, expert narration, archive materials and recreations, each episode will unearth the truth behind three Cold War sites. Traversing the globe, featured ruins include the vast underground Stasi Bunkers near Leipzig in Germany, a secret airplane boneyard in the USA, a 90-room, underground Communist hideout in Latvia and Kelvedon Hatch, a quaint farmhouse outside London, with an epic bunker below that was designed to house the British Prime Minister and VIPs in the event of a nuclear war.

Daniel Oron, co-founder and executive producer at Go Button Media, comments, “We have investigated so many extraordinary, astonishing and rarely explored locations for Secrets of Cold War Ruins – each offering a glimpse into the fears, ambitions, and high-stakes calculations that helped shape the twentieth century. We are invigorated by the greenlight from our respected partners at Autentic and Super Channel, who share our vision and our enthusiasm for this dynamic and revealing new series.”

Mirjam Strasser at Autentic says, “Secrets of Cold War Ruins is a compelling addition to our factual slate, combining gripping storytelling with fascinating historical insight. This series brings to light hidden locations and untold narratives from one of the most tense and defining periods of modern history. We are proud to continue our successful collaboration with Go Button Media and Super Channel on a project that we believe will strongly engage audiences worldwide.”

Kim Ball, EVP, Content & Communications at Super Channel, adds, “Our longstanding collaboration with Go Button Media has produced a slate of engaging, high-quality factual programming, and Secrets of Cold War Ruins is another outstanding example of their ability to uncover extraordinary stories with global appeal. This series combines gripping history, mystery and exploration in a way that we know will resonate with audiences. We are proud to continue our partnership with Go Button Media and Autentic on this exciting new project.”

Secrets of Cold War Ruins is expected to deliver towards the end of 2026.
