Nippon TV’s AI Solution “AiDi” wins Product of the Year Award at NAB

April 28, 2026 by TVA Editor

Nippon TV, Japan’s leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse, announces that its in-house-developed proprietary AI solution, GoVertical! AiDi (“AiDi”) has won the Product of the Year Award in the Streaming category at the NAB Show 2026. The event—one of the world’s largest broadcast and media technology exhibitions—was held from April 19 to 22, 2026, in Las Vegas, USA.

AiDi is Nippon TV’s proprietary AI solution designed to automatically generate vertical, mobile-friendly 9:16 video from16:9 live broadcast footage in real time.

As smartphone viewing becomes the dominant mode of content consumption, particularly among younger audiences—adapting video for vertical viewing has become a critical challenge for video content providers. AiDi addresses this challenge by enabling smooth and stress-free viewing even for fast-paced sports such as basketball and soccer, dynamically tracking the ball and players based on the situation.

AiDi operates on a single PC without requiring an internet connection and introduces only approximately 0.5 seconds of latency during live broadcasts. It also supports touch-pen operation, allowing intuitive use by anyone.

The NAB Show is one of the world’s largest broadcast and media technology exhibitions, held annually in Las Vegas and organized by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). The Product of the Year Award is presented in each category to products that demonstrate innovation and strong future potential.

In addition to this honor, AiDi also received the Best of Show Award from TV Tech, a leading industry trade publication. The award was announced during the NAB Show, marking a double win for AiDi across major awards.

Comment from Takayuki Shinoda, Associate Managing Director, Global Strategy Headquarters, Creative Technology Lab, Engineering & Technology, Nippon TV, “We are deeply honored to be recognized at the NAB Show, where the world’s most advanced technologies and equipment come together. What began as an internal initiative to address on-the-ground challenges one by one has grown into a single product and has now evolved to the point of being deployed on the global stage. We are delighted to have received our first international award, which we see as standing at a new starting line. As viewing habits continue to change dramatically, we remain committed to delivering increasingly compelling content experiences and to pursuing challenges that bring joy and inspiration to people around the world.”

As part of its Medium-Term Management Plan 2025–2027, Nippon TV has adopted the slogan “Gear up, go global,” aiming to transform itself into a global content company. Guided by its management vision, “Change the ‘World’ Through the Power of Content,” Nippon TV will accelerate the global expansion of its proprietary AI technology, AiDi, spearheaded by the Tech business division established within the Global Strategy Headquarters, and will further advance its evolution into a global content creator.
