Studio Dragon has once again proven its production competitiveness by consecutively delivering global hits this year with dramas Our Unwritten Seoul, Head Over Heels, Marry My Husband: Japan, and Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.
Korea’s leading scripted TV studio Studio Dragon has consistently produced mega-hits every year such as Crash Landing on You(2019-2020), Sweet Home(2020), Vincenzo(2021), The Glory(2022-2023), Marry My Husband(2024), and Queen of Tears(2024). This year, the company has cemented its global leadership with multiple successes, spearheaded by Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.
In particular, the recently concluded Bon Appétit, Your Majesty has been widely recognized as one of the strongest contenders for “K-Drama of the Year,” thanks to its overwhelming domestic and international performance. Its finale achieved a peak nationwide rating of 20%, while globally the series topped Netflix’s Non-English TV chart for two consecutive weeks, recording a total of 38.4 million views and 360.4 million viewing hours over six weeks.
The achievements of Marry My Husband: Japan, which premiered worldwide on Prime Video this June, are also noteworthy. Developed and produced by a Korean studio specifically for the Japanese market, the series set a record as the most-watched Prime Video Original drama in Japan during its first month of release. This demonstrates that Korea’s production expertise resonates even in overseas markets, breaking cultural and regional boundaries and presenting a new growth model for the K-content industry.
Our Unwritten Seoul and Head Over Heels also made a strong impact in the global market. Our Unwritten Seoul, released in May, ranked at No. 3 on Netflix’s Global Non-English TV chart and remained in the Top 10 for six consecutive weeks. Head Over Heels, released in June, ranked No. 2 on Prime Video’s Global TV chart and entered the Top 10 in 43 countries worldwide.
Looking ahead, Studio Dragon is set to continue its strong momentum in the fourth quarter with a diverse lineup across multiple platforms. Netflix series Genie, Make a Wish launches on October 3, followed by Typhoon Family on October 11 via TVING and Netflix. Nice to Not Meet You will premiere on November 3 on TVING and Prime Video for global audiences. Disney+ Original The Manipulated launches on November 5, and TVING Original Dear X on November 6. Netflix series The Price of Confession and Pro Bono(WT) are also slated for release later this year.
