Passion Distribution secures pre-sales of BBC Documentary The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist

June 13, 2025 by TVA Editor

Passion Distribution has announced it has secured worldwide distribution rights to “The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist”, an engrossing and timely new documentary produced by Firecracker Films for BBC Three and BBC Current Affairs.

This gripping one-off documentary (1 x45’) investigates one of the most high-profile celebrity crimes of the decade – the 2016 robbery of Kim Kardashian at gunpoint in Paris. With exclusive access to friends of the Kardashian family, French law enforcement, and journalists who followed the case closely, the film uncovers the shocking detail of what really happened that night, and the eventual courtroom reckoning, nearly a decade later.

“The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist” is scheduled to premiere on BBC Three and BBC One later this month and will be available on BBC iPlayer.

Passion Distribution has already secured a strong international response to the documentary ahead of its premiere. It has been pre-sold to Network Ten in Australia and Warner Bros. Discovery for streaming platforms HBO Max and Discovery+, as well as linear networks across Italy, Germany, CEE, Benelux, France, Nordics, Poland, Spain, Andorra, and Portugal, underscoring the story’s wide appeal and catchment of cultural zeitgeist. Passion is in discussion with buyers to bring the film to audiences in multiple additional territories including US and Canada.

Nick Tanner, Director of Sales and Co-Productions at Passion Distribution, said: “This film goes far beyond the headlines, revealing how a meticulously planned heist targeted one of the world’s most famous women. With powerful storytelling and new revelations, this documentary is a premium crime story for global audiences.”

A Paramount Australia spokesperson said, “This crime captivated people around the world and equally the recent trial generated incredible interest into how these ‘grandpa robbers’ were able to execute such an audacious theft. We’re very excited to premiere this timely documentary in Australia as we know our audiences have a strong appetite for enthralling crime stories.”

Jes Wilkins, Chief Creative Officer at Firecracker Films, and Sam Emmery, Creative Director, serve as Executive Producers. The film is directed by Ben Bryant and produced by Jessica Sartenaer, with editorial contributions from BBC’s Nasfim Haque and Joanna Carr.
