Quintus Studios, the international factual content distributor and channel owner announced a partnership with UK indie Middlechild Productions to produce a new 6 x 60’ series documenting extraordinary real-life stories of human stories of survival.
The World’s Most Dangerous Rescues, which German free-to-air television channel WELT has boarded as a pre-sale partner for a pilot episode following its presentation at Quintus Studios’ Co-Pro Club initiative, offers an in-depth look at some of the most remarkable and unknown rescue missions planet earth has seen, told first-hand by those who experienced them.
Each episode features a variety of five to six different dangerous rescues that have been caught on camera, both those that are familiar and others that flew under the radar but are no less incredible, whether it’s being saved from a tsunami, dragged from a ferocious fire or a plane that has crashed in the middle of the ocean.
Using UGC material, eyewitness testimony via new interviews with the main protagonists and news archive to retell these extraordinary human stories of survival, this series will recount these extraordinary tales in a way that has never been done before.
“Quintus Studios is a new generation broadcaster-distributor and initiatives like the Co-Pro Club are created to achieve much quicker green lights than in the era of classic co-pro or pre-sale-funding. So we are very excited to be able to prove our concept by announcing our next Quintus Original production together with Middlechild and their like-minded, equally flexible thinking team and our friends at WELT,” said Gerrit Kemming, Managing Director at Quintus Studios.
“Quintus are ripping up the traditional commissioning and distribution model and we’re so excited to be part of it. The industry is changing and I want Middlechild to be at the forefront of the new opportunities that are presented to us. ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Rescues’ has some of the most jaw-dropping footage I’ve seen in 20 years of working in television and we can’t wait for the audiences to see it,” said David Sumnall, Managing Director at Middlechild Productions.
The World’s Most Dangerous Rescues is a Quintus Original – the show will debut on Quintus’ YouTube channel Free Documentary and German free to air channel WELT.
Quintus Studios owns and operates YouTube channel brands with a combined yearly reach of more than 200 million unique visitors including Free Documentary, FD Real, FD History, FD Nature, FD Paranormal and ENDEVR. It also owns and operates FAST channel ‘Radical Docs’ which is available on platforms including Rakuten TV. The business develops and funds unscripted TV projects via a disruptive new partnership model – Quintus Originals.
