Leading Irish content production businesses ShinAwiL and Bebbak have teamed up to produce ‘Sineád’ (w/t), an access-led feature documentary celebrating the musical work of iconic, Grammy Award-winning singer/ songwriter, Sineád O’Connor.
ShinAwiL’s LA-based Executive Producer Chuck La Bella has brought in legendary US producer Orian Williams (Control, Shadow Of The Vampire and director of the forthcoming biopic Jeff Buckley) as Executive Producer alongside ShinAwiL’s Larry Bass, and legendary radio DJ, Bebbak’s Dave Fanning. Irish director Maurice Sweeney (I Dolours, Saving The Titanic & Blood) will direct.
Sineád O’Connor’s music captured world attention, earning her numerous nominations and wins for Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and MTV Music Video awards to name a few. She courted musical acclaim and controversy in equal measure.
Global sales will be handled by Jonathan Ford and Abacus Media Rights.
Orian Williams said: “There are few artists who have impacted the world music scene like Sineád O’Connor, I’m delighted to board this film and help tell Sineád’s musical story”.
Larry Bass, CEO of ShinAwiL said: “There will only ever be one documentary with Sineád involved that tells the story of her work in her own words. This is it. Seldom do we get an opportunity for an artist to take us into the story behind their greatest work.”
Bebbak’s Dave Fanning said: “From the very first time this wide-eyed teenager walked into my radio studio, I have watched in awe as she has re-invented her music and life, time and time again – always while wearing her heart on her sleeve.”
Jonathan Ford of Abacus Media Rights adds: “Bringing this film to world screens is one of those unique opportunities to deliver a global story as yet untold, this is what makes selling stories great.”
