The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 premieres on 6 June in Asia

May 30, 2019 by TVA Editor

The third season of hit drama series The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere with three episodes on 6 June in Asia exclusively on HBO GO. A new episode of the 13-episode third season will premiere every subsequent Thursday.

Winner of 11 Primetime Emmy Awards for its previous seasons, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Elisabeth Moss) in 2017 and winner of two Golden Globes in 2018 for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama (Elisabeth Moss), catch up on all episodes of the past two seasons anytime, anywhere on the streaming platform. The series is also available on HBO On Demand.

The third season of The Handmaid’s Tale, is driven by June’s resistance to the dystopian regime of Gilead, in which she finds herself once again after opting not to flee to Canada with her baby at the end of the second season Now, she will struggle to fight back against the regime against “overwhelming odds.” Startling reunions, betrayals, and a journey to the terrifying heart of Gilead force all characters to take a stand, guided by one defiant prayer: “Blessed be the fight.” Season three’s cast sees the return of Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenie, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley and Bradley Whitford.

The drama series, based on the award-winning, best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism regime that treats women as property of the state.

As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world. In this terrifying society where one wrong word could end her life, Offred navigates between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids — where anyone could be a spy for Gilead — all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.

Created for television by Bruce Miller, based on the work of Margaret Atwood. Executive producers for season three are Miller, Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Eric Tuchman, Mike Barker, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Sheila Hockin. The Handmaid’s Tale is produced by MGM Television and internationally distributed by MGM.
