Eccho Rights can reveal that WOUNDED BIRDS, the daily drama series from Turkish production company Stellar Yapim, has pre-sold to broadcasters in Europe and Latin America.
Telemundo in Puerto Rico and OBN in Bosnia became the first two international channels to pick up the series, the next project for the creator of international hit ELIF, Inci Gülen. The deals were finalised before the series started to air on Turkey’s Kanal D earlier this month.
“This is the first ever instance of a Turkish Drama securing pre-sales, a landmark for this genre that continues to make dramatic and rapid progress in the industry,” says Fredrik af Malmborg, Managing Director of international distributor Eccho Rights. “The interest in Wounded Birds has been huge ever since we first revealed details of its development. Buyers who have enjoyed many years of top ratings airing ELIF are eager for the next hit in their schedules.”
WOUNDED BIRDS is the story of two orphans trying to make a new life in Istanbul, on the run from the man that had raised them on the streets. They face many dangers, but also opportunities in their new start. Can love, hope and determination propel them toward a glorious destiny?
