London – TCB Media Rights, the London-based rights-ownership and distribution company, has announced the launch of three new documentary series for worldwide distribution, all of which were financed through TCB’s sales team and their network of broadcaster funders.
Manchester-based indie Title Role has gone into production on two user-generated series, World’s Wildest Weather (6 x 60 mins) and World’s Worst Flight ( aka Flights, Camera, Action) (6 x 60 mins). World’s Wildest Weather chronicles extreme weather events around the globe, bringing the action to life with first-hand witness accounts and user-generated content. Experts explain the science behind the phenomena that can destroy lives and livelihoods in an instant. The show has been pre-bought by Channel Nine Australia, SKY TV New Zealand and RMC Decouverte France.
World’s Worst Flights (Flights, Camera, Action), uses first-hand accounts, archive material and passenger footage to tell the harrowing stories of people who survived terrifying experiences in the air. Channel 5, , Channel 9 Australia ,RMC Decouverte France, WeltN24 Germany and SKY TV New Zealand have all pre-invested in the project.
In a new partnership for TCB Media Rights, Worldmark Films is producing Caught On Dash Cam/Car vs World (5 x 60 mins/10 x 30 mins), a brand new clip show that features examples of the world’s worst — and most surprising — driving. Using footage caught on the dash cams, CCTV cameras, mobile phones and GoPros, the series is broken down into different themes, including crime, weather and animals. Caught On Dash Cam has been pre-bought by SKY UK, Channel 7 Australia ,WeltN24 Germany, and Mediaworks New Zealand.
Paul Heaney, CEO of TCB Media Rights, said: “Our model is to develop ideas in partnership with our community of indie producers, based on international feedback from our sales team. We then put a funding structure in place, including pre-sales, which frees producers from the stress of the contemporary commissioning process. Getting content made is no mean feat in today’s market, where broadcasters and VOD platforms have widely differing strategies and budgets. Success depends on flexibility, imagination, ingenuity and a commercial model that’s as creative as your show’s content. And this is what TCB does best.”
Helen Tonge, co-owner and managing director of Title Role, said: “We are thrilled to be working with TCB on these two series. The changing landscape of commissioning means a model like this between producers and distributors is viable and exciting if you take a different approach to structuring the deal”.
