May 8, 2017 by TVA Editor

Rising Star Greece ended its first successful prime time season on ANT1 with a climatic high, peaking with an incredible 56% share of all TV viewers, as well as attracting an average share of 35% across the entire episode – making ANT1 by far the leading channel of the night.

Across the 18 episode series, the interactive talent show attracted an average audience share of 30% of all viewers. Rising Star regularly aired against the first season of Survivor and held its audience. The season finale was much talked about due to its extremely tense and close competition, in which the two singers were only 0.2% apart in audience votes.

The first popular season of Rising Star India also wrapped in a dramatic finale on 23 April crowning Bannet Dosanjh as winner. Along with a lump sum, he will perform within an upcoming film produced one of India’s most successful production houses, Vishesh Films. Adding to the spectacle of the finale, the famous actor and producer Anil Kapoor joined the panel as guest judge.

Viewing figures are yet to become public but inital indications show approximately 3 million viewers voted across the 24 episode series which launched on COLORS Viacom18 in February to become the first ever real time voting show in the country. Manisha Sharma, Head of Programming at COLORS remarked in local press interviews that the engagement levels through the app give him the confidence that India is ready for such futuristic formats. and Vipul D Shah, MD of Optimystix Entertainment said that Rising Star had redefined Indian television altogether.”

In addition to the original version on Keshet Channel 2 which has recently aired its fourth season and remains the highest-rated talent show in Israel, versions of Rising Star have aired across four  continents with more than 200 million votes cast worldwide to date.
