From April 1 to 30, the Kapuso Network increased its lead in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM), garnering an average total day people audience share of 43.3 percent, besting ABS-CBN’s 35.1 percent by a remarkable 8.2 points. The margin is higher than the 5.4-point advantage posted by GMA versus ABS-CBN in March.
GMA likewise remained unbeatable in Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of the total urban TV household population in the country. In April, GMA posted an average total day people audience share of 50.4 percent, way ahead of ABS-CBN’s 28.9 percent.
Across all day parts, including the highly coveted evening prime time block, the Kapuso Network reigned victorious in both NUTAM and Urban Luzon. The highly popular telefantasya Encantadia still leads the list of top programs. Also among the list are Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Destined to be Yours, Magpakailanman, Pepito Manaloto, 24 Oras, newly launched Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko, Meant To Be, and Hay Bahay.
Nielsen data is gathered through a greater number of sampled homes nationwide in comparison to Kantar Media. With approximately 900 more homes surveyed in Total Urban and Rural Philippines compared to Kantar, Nielsen data is statistically considered more representative of the total TV population. In 2016, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement increased its client pool to a total of 36 clients/subscribers which now include 12 local TV networks, 5 regional clients, 2 block timers, and 17 media agencies.
