Turkish producer Ay Yapim scored a 3rd successful launch in a row, as the new drama Heart Of The City (Bu Şehir Arkandan Gelecek) was launched on ATV. The series went straight to number one in the target AB demographic with a 15,29% share and 6,59% rating. The series received tremendous attention on social media with the hashtag #BuŞehir among the top trending topics of the night amongst Turkish twitter users.
Heart of the City is the third new launch this season from Ay Yapim following the powerful success of Insider on Show TV starting Çağatay Ulusoy and Aras Bulut İynemli, as well as Brave And Beautiful starring Tuba Büyüküstün and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ on Star TV.
“The three new Ay Yapim series are all amazing productions that are performing incredibly well in Turkey and attracting very strong attention in the world market,” says Fredrik af Malmborg, Managing Director at Eccho Rights who represent the international rights of the three series.
Heart of the City is the story of Ali, a handsome sailor, brought up aboard a cargo ship by Rauf, who saved him as a child after they were both witness to the murder of his mother, at the hands of his father. Rauf doesn’t just take good care of Ali but also the ship’s crew and he is affectionately referred to as their “Mother.”
Raised at sea, Ali is still terrified to return to his roots in Istanbul and the trauma of his mother’s death, even after 20 years. When one day he is forced off the ship he encounters the enchanting ballet dancer Derin, and immediately falls for her, chasing her deep into the city to save a potentially disastrous audition. The series stars Kerem Bürsin in the role of Ali.
