Tokyo – VTV7 will start broadcasting Peek-a-boo! (Inai Inai Baa!), NHK’s hallmark program for children, in January next year. VTV7 has previously broadcast dubbed versions of NHK’s educational programs but this will be the first ever on-set joint production with VTV7 in a Vietnamese studio.
The Vietnamese edition will feature the popular Peek-a-boo! character, Wan Wan, and VTV7’s cat character, Meow Meow, together with Vietnamese children. The program’s production team has already visited Vietnam to provide guidance on such matters as how the Wan Wan character is operated. Promotional events for the program are also scheduled for March next year in both the capital, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s largest city.
VTV7 was launched as an educational channel in January this year. Its broadcasts serve people of all ages from infants to the elderly and range from programs linked to school education to cartoons and others featuring hobbies and practical skills. NHK affiliates are providing support with programming, program production, studio facilities and so on to share NHK’s accumulated educational TV know-how. The channel has already broadcast two of NHK’s educational TV programs, Discover Science (Daikagaku Jikken) and Rockie and Her Friends (Zawazawa Mori no Gankochan).
