Eutelsat in Zimbabwe
Cape Town, Harare, Paris— Eutelsat Communications announced that it has sealed a three-year contract with the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) for Ku-band capacity on the EUTELSAT 3B satellite. The capacity will be used to deliver 12 free-to-view channels to a nationwide network of 48 Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) transmitters so that Zimbabwean viewers can benefit from improved image quality and a wider choice of television programmes.
HBO Star deals
Tokyo, Japan– Star Channel, Inc. announced an exclusive television content deal with HBO. The deal will result in Star Channel expanding its current services with both Hollywood blockbusters and high-profile TV series. The channel will be the exclusive television home of HBO titles.
RTL CBS secures broadcast rights
Singapore– RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network announced that it has secured exclusive regional pay-TV broadcast rights for the 42nd People’s Choice Awards. The awards will air live on RTL CBS Entertainment HD in 2016.
Prime’s ultimate deals
E! Germany deals with Prime Entertainment Group for Ultimate Countdown (16×45’), marking the first deal between the two companies. Prime has already been working with other channels of the networks such as NBC Universal Italy, Studio Universal Africa, Studio Universal Central & Eastern Europe, Syfy Benelux, and more.
DNA options TV rights to The Watchers
London– Quercus announced that television rights to Neil Spring’s The Watchers have been optioned by DNA Films and TV, after an eight-way auction.
M4e finalizes agreement
Höhenkirchen/Munich– m4e AG has finalized a broadcasting agreement for its preschool series Tip the Mouse (52 x 7’) with Buena Vista International, Inc. for all Latin American territories including Brazil. The deal grants Disney Junior Latin America exclusive pay-TV and basic subscription TV rights. Launch dates for the respective markets are to be announced.
