Miso Film’s high-end drama series, Acquitted (10 x 60’), premiered on SVT in Sweden on the 26 April and reached more than one million viewers, taking a share of 30.5 percent. The tremendous launch makes Acquitted one of the most successful foreign dramas to have launched on SVT over the last five years.
Peter Bose, Co-Founder of Miso Film commented, “We are incredibly proud of the ratings and reviews that the series has achieved so far. In a television industry where we’re constantly hearing about viewer migration patterns headings to non-linear platforms, Acquitted has had quite the achievement on SVT in Sweden. Add to that its fantastic launch and consistently high figures on its commissioning network, TV2 in Norway, and we’re sure we have a hit on our hands.”
The (10 x 60’) drama is produced by Miso Film for TV2 (Norway) and stars Nicolai Cleve Broch and Lena Endre. FremantleMedia International handles the distribution rights for the series.
Acquitted follows the story of Aksel Borgen, who left his native town after being cleared of the murder of his high school sweetheart. Twenty years later he returns to save the place that once turned its back on him – but the past has not been forgotten.
Acquitted has also been a huge success in Norway:
· 660,000 viewers tuned in live for the premiere episode of the series making it the highest rated drama premiere in TV2 Norway’s history
· After six episodes, Acquitted has averaged 649,000 viewers and a 34.8% share; +55% higher than TV2’s prime time average
· The series is consistently TV2’s highest rated drama of the week and consistently No.1 in its time slot
· Acquitted performs +53% above TV2’s prime time average for adults 25-39 with a 37.1% share of the market
The series also recently received two nominations in the annual Norwegian Gullreten Awards in the Drama Series and Lead Actor categories.
