Endemol Shine Group makes appointments

March 11, 2015 by TVA Editor

Endemol Shine Group announced leadership and structure of its international creative and formats business. Shine Network and Endemol’s Creative Operations, both of which provided creative and production support to each company’s travelling formats, have been brought together as Endemol Shine Creative Networks.

Iris Boelhouwer, who has to date overseen Endemol’s creative and format distribution teams as Managing Director of Creative Operations, has decided that she will leave in the summer after more than 20 years’ at the company. Boelhouwer will first complete the integration of her areas before handing over her responsibilities ahead of her departure.

Lisa Perrin, currently Managing Director of Shine Network will lead Endemol Shine Creative Networks as Managing Director, reporting directly to Endemol Shine Group President, Tim Hincks.

Perrin’s responsibilities include managing and coordinating the exchange of new ideas, creativity and IP across Endemol Shine Group’s network of companies around the world as well as supporting and guiding local adaptation of formats in new markets. Endemol Shine Creative Networks will be run out of the company’s headquarters in Amsterdam.

The company’s format sales and acquisitions business will now be managed separately, with Global Head of Format Distribution Ana Langenberg reporting to Group Commercial Officer Boudewijn Beusmans.

Langenberg’s responsibilities include overseeing international sales and acquisitions of both scripted and non-scripted formats as well as supporting the roll out of formats to territories where Endemol Shine Group has local production bases. Her team operates separately from the recently announced combined distribution arm, Endemol Shine International, which focuses on finished programing sales for the company.

“We owe huge thanks to Iris whose creative leadership has been key to ensuring that Endemol’s hits have travelled fast across the company’s network to markets around the world,” said Tim Hincks. “We wish her every success for when she moves on to new adventures in the summer.”

“Lisa has a natural creative instinct for what makes a format work and how it can be adapted in different markets,” continued Hincks. “The strength of her leadership is underlined by the outstanding operation she ran at Shine and I’m thrilled that she will be heading up our newly united creative team.”

“Ana has played a leading role in the success of Endemol’s format distribution business including numerous deals that have helped establish new operations in key markets,” said Boudewijn Beusmans. “Her experience and track record make her ideally suited to lead our format distribution and acquisitions as we enter a new phase with more resources and IP to offer partners around the world.”

Iris Boelhouwer first joined Endemol in 1994 and since then has held a number of senior positions within the company. This has included Executive Producer and Creative Director at Endemol Netherlands as well as Executive Director, Creative Support at Endemol Group. Boelhouwer also spent five years with Dutch broadcaster SBS as Editor in Chief to their news department. She was appointed as Endemol’s Managing Director of Creative Operations in 2010.

Lisa Perrin first joined Shine in 2009 as Creative Director at Shine TV, overseeing hit shows including two series of The Biggest Loser for ITV, before becoming Creative Director of Shine Network. Prior to Shine, Lisa was Head of Entertainment Commissioning at UKTV notably overseeing the return of Red Dwarf; and was Director of Popular Factual at Tiger Aspect. Earlier in her career, Lisa was an Executive Producer at the BBC’s in-house entertainment department and at Endemol. Lisa was appointed as Managing Director, Shine Network in 2014.

Ana Langenberg first joined Endemol in 1998 and went on to become Senior Licensing Manager in 2001, then Senior Manager, Format Distribution in 2004. Langenberg has played a key role in setting up Endemol affiliates in Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia and helped establish regional versions of global formats such as Big Brother, Wipeout and Deal or No Deal. She also secured Endemol’s first deals in India with Fear Factor, Big Brother and Strictly Dancing, which led to the launch of company’s Indian operation. Langenberg has led Endemol’s format distribution since 2010.
