Singapore – For the first time, MediaCorp OOH Media dressed up its bus shelters’ ad panels as Christmas trees along Orchard Road to add a little Christmas cheer to the festive atmosphere.
Seven 6-sheet panels will be dressed up as Christmas trees from 6 to 31 December at bus shelters outside Concorde Hotel, Delfi Orchard, Far East Plaza, Lucky Plaza, Midpoint Orchard, Orchard Plaza and Royal Thai Embassy. In addition, we will be rallying the public to hunt for an 8th roving tree, or what we affectionately call, the “Princess tree”. Through this campaign, we hope that the public can get to know our bus shelters a little better, as the “missing” Princess tree will move to 7 different locations in the CBD and the suburbs such as Thomson, every 2-3 days till 23 December.
The outline of the festive Christmas tree is clamped onto the ad panel and is formed using 3D foam cut-outs that are printed with baubles and trinkets. The special roving “Princess tree” comes with a unique festive electroluminescence (EL) poster that lights up and adds on to the festive mood with twinkling lights.
Using TODAYonline app’s in-built SNAP function, the first five people to snap and submit a picture of the “missing” Christmas tree at each location would be rewarded with a Christmas hamper worth S$100. The SNAP functionality combines image trigger capabilities and a patented image recognition technology, providing a seamless interactive experience to participate in the contest right on their smartphones and devices.
The first location of the “Princess tree” was outside Tangs Plaza, and coincided with the Orchard Road Pedestrian Night on 6 December. Many people, locals and tourists alike, were spotted snapping pictures and selfies of not just the glittering lights and our unique “Princess tree”, but also of the various 3D campaigns on our bus shelters from the likes of Marina Bay Sands, MCCY and Changi Airport Group.
Henry Goh, Head of MediaCorp’s OOH Media, said, “This Christmas campaign gives MediaCorp the opportunity to contribute to Orchard Road’s festive cheer by dressing up our panels with removable decorations on the frame. Our outdoor medium lends itself well to such tactical creative executions and advertisers can look forward to more of such opportunities from OOH Media to continue to liven up Singapore’s streetscape in the future.”
