The Indonesia Channel will allow free airing of a half-hour special on the country’s national Christmas celebration from Papua on 28 December. The event is being held outside the capital Jakarta for the first time, led by President Joko Widodo.
“This will be a fascinating glimpse into a Muslim-majority country’s observance of a very Christian holiday,” said TIC CEO Dalton Tanonaka. “What we’re doing is unscrambling our satellite signal just for this special program to give viewers everywhere a chance to watch.”
Christmas in Papua: An Indonesian Celebration is scheduled to air on Sunday, 28 December, 8:30 pm Jakarta time, and will include performances by musical artists and choirs from throughout the country. Broadcasters interested in airing the program should notify TIC Manager of Marketing and Communications Indah Ceylan.
