StarHub TV will be airing the 51st Golden Horse Awards live on E City (StarHub TV Channel 111/825) on 22 November. The red carpet event will commence at 5.30pm, while the awards show will air from 7pm to 11pm. Viewers can also catch the Awards on TV Anywhere which will be streamed live.
The Golden Horse Awards is one of the film awards for Mandarin movies. Since its inception in 1962, the awards have given recognition to numerous excellent filmmakers and are considered the highest accolade for all Chinese-language filmmakers and artistes from Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and other Chinese-speaking countries.
This year, there will be a total of 23 award categories. Black Coal Thin Ice leads with eight nominations, including Best Director, Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress. Best Leading Actor category nominees include Chen Jian-bin in A Fool, Sean Lau in The White Storm, Liao Fan in Black Coal, Thin Ice, Masatoshi Nagase in KANO and Chang Chen in Brotherhood of Blades. Noted names in the Best Leading Actress category include Gong Li in Coming Home, Tang Wei in The Golden Era and Zhao Wei in Dearest.
This year, the Chair of the Festival is Sylvia Chang and Ceremony hosts are Mickey Huang and Ella.
