ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has renewed its agency deal with Intervision in Japan, marking the start of the fiftieth year of the agreement between the two companies.
Intervision has been representing ITVS GE’s portfolio of high-quality programming across a range of genres to major Japanese broadcasters since 1965. Key deals that Intervision has negotiated on behalf of ITVS GE during this time include the acquisition of hit drama Agatha Christie’s Poirot by public broadcaster NHK, acclaimed documentary series Disappearing World by terrestrial network NTV and classic drama Brideshead Revisited by satellite broadcaster WOWOW.
Most recently, Intervision brokered a deal for satellite channel Imagica BS to air ITV Collection, a new ITV-branded programming block. It will feature 200 hours annually of premium drama from ITVS GE’s catalogue, with ITV Studios’ Mr Selfridge as the flagship title, when it launches in October.
Augustus Dulgaro, EVP Sales, Asia Pacific, ITV Studios Global Entertainment said, “The renewal of our deal with Intervision for the fiftieth year is a significant achievement. Intervision has a deep understanding of our brand and, as illustrated by our recent deal with Imagica BS for the ITV Collection programming block, finds the perfect outlets for our programming in Japan.”
Takio Okomoto, President of Intervision, added, “As we begin our fiftieth year of working together, I am deeply grateful for the continuous efforts and understanding of ITVS GE that enabled us to carry out our duties as an agent. I would also like to express my gratitude for the cooperation of all the broadcasters and other media business partners we’ve worked with, as well as thanking the Intervision team. Looking back over the past 50 years, I recall many of ITVS GE’s flagship, blue-chip programmes which we have been proud to represent and I personally have been very lucky to be involved with the distribution of these titles”.
