Hong Kong – HBO Asia announced on August 14 that viewers will have the opportunity to view The Knick’s pilot episode on nowTV’s video on-demand service, now Video Express First (Channel 106), starting August 15, for two weeks – free of charge. Beginning August 15, HBO and Cinemax Original content will also appear on HBO On Demand in Hong Kong within a week of their premiere on the HBO and Cinemax channels, starting with the much anticipated Cinemax Original series, The Knick.
The Knick
The Knick is a brand-new star-studded Cinemax Original series starring Academy Award® and Emmy® nominee Clive Owen and directed by Academy Award and Emmy winner, Steven Soderbergh. The Knick premiered August 9 on Cinemax, less than 24 hours after its U.S. debut.
Magdalene Ew, Head, Marketing, Creative and Content, HBO Asia said, “HBO Asia is pulling out all the stops against online piracy to ensure The Knick, our newest Cinemax Original series, is available across multiple platforms for legitimate viewing. Targeting viewers on Cinemax, HBO GO, HBO On Demand, now Video Express First, YouTube and cinemaxasia.com, this is HBO Asia’s largest audience outreach to date, intended to drive interest and encourage subscription.”
This follows HBO Asia’s announcement last month that non-subscribers can watch the full pilot episode of The Knick for free for the first time via streaming on cinemaxasia.com and HBO Asia’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/hboasia) from August 11 to 25. In April, HBO Asia announced that HBO and Cinemax Original content would be available less than a day after their U.S. telecast.
In Hong Kong, The Knick will be shown in full version on password-protected platforms – HBO GO, HBO On Demand and now Video Express First (Channel 106), with Cantonese subtitles where available.
