New York and Los Angeles – Mode Media, formerly Glam Media, launched its new comprehensive video service and unveiled its first-ever exclusive slate of premium, original video programming, featuring 10 brand new series, on April 29. Additionally, the company will launch a Los Angeles-based production studio, Mode Entertainment Studios, as well as a new native video distribution platform.
“Two years ago, we created a team of top talent in digital video from Xbox, NBC, and Apple and gave them a mission to create a new platform for video curation, programming, distribution, discovery and social sharing. Today, we are pleased to announce the launch of phase one of our efforts with a full suite of new digital video offerings,” said Samir Arora, Founder & CEO of Mode Media. “The next generation digital video company needs to be a combination of a TV network and a pure digital video player like Netflix and Hulu — offering exclusive original programming and direct-to-consumer distribution. With our reach of over 250 million monthly unique visitors, Mode Media is able to syndicate content embedded across our distribution ecosystem of over 6,000 content businesses, creating a comprehensive new video service.”
Ten new original programming series, which feature celebrities and influencers on the rise, premiered across multiple Mode Media channels on April 29, including Mode Entertainment, Brash for Men’s Lifestyle, Home, Glam for Style, Fashion & Beauty, Foodie for Recipes & Restaurants and Tend for Family & Parenting.
The heart of the service is an all-new video technology platform called “Project M” that is built on Ning to upload, curate, programme, distribute and syndicate video content for consumers to discover and socially share. In addition, Mode Media is launching a native video distribution player that is being embedded within the content pages and streams to make discovery and viewing seamless for consumers and advertisers. Additionally, Mode Media is creating a new syndication platform on its owned-and-operated Mode Media channels, on video discovery applications, and through new video syndication partners, YouTube channels and vloggers.
As part of its effort to expand its original programming offerings, Mode Media will also launch Mode Entertainment Studios to manage original productions in Los Angeles. The studios, with access to the resources within made-for-Mode Media productions, gives Mode Media a complete production portfolio that will be used for editorial, entertainment, and sponsored content.
Mode Media has also tapped Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to help guide its digital content offerings and build relationships in the entertainment community, in addition to providing strategic advisory services to the next generation digital media premium content services company.
“We are committed to being at the forefront of curating the best of what the web has to offer, as well as delivering creative and immersive advertising programmes that reach audiences in highly relevant environments,” said Dan Lagani, President and Chief Revenue Officer of Mode Media. “We have a long history of helping brands tell their story through our content ecosystem at scale — we are bringing that expertise for the first time to video today — making Mode Media uniquely positioned to serve our partners with our innovative new offerings.”
