Los Angeles – Multimedia entertainment studio Electus, an operating business of IAC, announced that it has acquired rights to Crazy Market from CJ E&M on April 7. The show currently airs in Korea, and the acquisition marks Electus’ first deal in the country. Electus International plans to distribute the programme globally at MIPTV.
Crazy Market is a game show that tests a contestant’s food knowledge by challenging the individual to identify and create various foods using the five senses. The show welcomes all food connoisseurs – from foodies to professional chefs – with the hope of winning a cash prize at the end of show.
“Electus International is thrilled to expand our partnership with CJ E&M, a leader in producing unique and universally appealing content, and excited to bring Crazy Market to our buyers in the United States and beyond,” said Cyrus Farrokh, Vice President of Electus International. “Crazy Market is a great addition to our expanding catalogue, and the show highlights our emphasis on formats from Asia.”
Tim Puntillo’s production company, Format First Productions, will be adapting the show for the United States market. Electus acquired the company in 2012. Most recently, Tim was the executive producer behind NBC’s hit primetime game show, Minute to Win It, and executive producer and creator of NBC’s Food Fighters, which will air summer 2014.
